“I am delighted that Slovenia regards Morocco as a friend and partner, united by shared values and common aspirations for peace, prosperity, and mutual understanding,” said Zupančič during talks with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi El Alami, who is currently visiting Slovenia.
She affirmed that these discussions provided an opportunity to highlight “the excellent relations” between Morocco and Slovenia, as well as the strengthening of cooperation between the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco and the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia.
In this context, the official recalled the memorandum of understanding signed between the two institutions during her visit to Morocco in November 2022, noting that this memorandum reaffirms “our commitment to strengthening relations and promoting dialogue between our two legislative institutions.”
The talks with El Alami also highlighted the importance of the joint declaration signed in Rabat last June by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon. This declaration, Zupančič emphasized, lays the groundwork for future cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including culture, education, science, business, energy, environmental protection, and green technologies.
The discussions also provided an opportunity to stress the importance of continuous dialogue between Morocco and Slovenia on security and migration issues. She reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to strengthening cooperation in combating irregular migration.
“I am convinced that Slovenia and Morocco will continue to deepen their dialogue on issues of common interest at the regional and international levels,” she said, highlighting the key role of interparliamentary diplomacy in this context.
During these talks, the Speaker of the House of Representatives was accompanied by Morocco’s ambassador to Slovenia, based in Vienna, Azzeddine Farhane.
