YouTuber ‘Weld Chinouia' Gets Three-Year Prison Sentence for Online Harassment

A Casablanca court sentenced two popular Moroccan YouTubers, Reda Bouzidi (“Weld Chinouia”) and another woman known as “Bent Abbas,” to prison for online harassment. Bouzidi received a three-year sentence, while Bent Abbas was given two and a half years. The sentences were handed down late Monday night.

The two YouTubers were found guilty on multiple charges including defamation, invasion of privacy, and cyberbullying.

Their convictions stem from allegations that they used social media to spread false claims, harass others, and threaten individuals. The charges also included accusations of disrupting a security facility and attacking a private property.

While the YouTubers apologized for their actions in court, their families reacted angrily to the verdict, shouting and wailing in the courtroom. Several other family members who were also initially charged were acquitted.
